NURS 4498 - Community Health Clinical Nursing

Description

This course will introduce students to community and population health nursing. Special emphasis will be placed on health promotion and disease prevention across the lifespan in ethnically diverse and vulnerable populations. Students will enhance critical thinking skills by planning and implementing a service-learning project within their community.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

Use health promotion and prevention strategies in caring for patients across the life span.
Analyze contemporary evidence-based practice issues and problems through the community assessment process of vulnerable groups, families and communities/populations.
Apply the nursing process to selected individuals, families, groups, communities, and aggregates.
Identify resources and interventions for health promotion, intervention, coordination and evaluation of care in community/population-based programs
Use principles and techniques of critical thinking to deliver individualized and holistic care to families and communities/population-based programs.
