OATC 4810 - Contemporary Skills

Description

Analysis of the workplace skills needed in a rapidly changing technological society. Emphasis is on communication skills, employee motivation, change management, delegation, team building, and career planning. Students are required to build a career plan and to design a change management project.


Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Describe the most desired skills required in a rapidly changing contemporary workplace;
  2. Recognize positive relationship strategies that are being used in the contemporary workplace;
  3. Utilize the principles of team building for workplace performance;
  4. Apply effective interpersonal communications skills in actual or simulated work environment;
  5. Describe the basic management principles and theories practiced in the contemporary workplace;
  6. Describe the processes used to facilitate and influence change in individuals and within an organization;
  7. Describe how change is managed in the workplace;
  8. Develop a personalized career plan.
