FTA 3360 - Financial Management & Digital Transformation

Description

This course provides an in-depth analysis and link between financial theory and the practice of corporate financial management. The course is designed to cover the traditional areas of capital budgeting, working capital management, business valuation, financial planning, options in corporate finance and international finance, as well as the prominent trends in finance such as FinTech, AI (Artificial Intelligence), and Big Data. Students will also understand the technologies that are impacting the economy, especially banking and finance, know the most recent trends of digital innovation, pursue digital transformation, and finally, write SAS (Statistical Analysis System) programming codes for data curation to make data-driven decisions.


Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Understand why the weighted average cost of capital is used to evaluate potential capital projects.
  2. Measure the impact of risk on project cash flows and the impact of real options on project valuation.
  3. Understand how different types of risk affect a firm’s optimal capital structure and its targeted capital structure.
  4. Identify additional challenges faced by multinational corporations.
  5. Understand the technologies that are impacting the economy, especially banking and finance
  6. Understand the trends toward digital disruption and innovation, and think progressively and pursue digital transformation
  7. Write SAS (Statistical Analysis System) programming codes for data curation and decision making
