SPED 3111 - Foundations in Special Education
Description
This course examines characteristics and needs of students with exceptionalities, as well as the role, and responsibilities of a special education teacher in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, instruction, evaluation and communication with families of students with special needs.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, students will be able to:
LO1: Articulate the historical foundations and specialized language of the special education field, and how these elements shape current special education practice.
LO2: Identify and describe characteristics, eligibility process criteria, and educational implications of major disability categories.
LO3: Compare service delivery models and analyze how inclusive practices support equitable access for students with disabilities in various educational environments.
