ORGL 2601 - Introduction to Public Administration

Description

This course introduces students to Public Administration, which is a sub-field of Political Science. Administrative aspects of Political Science will be examined, focusing on concepts and methods used to analyze public policy, political systems, governmental structures, bureaucracy, government and public management, and public policy planning.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and analyze the key perspectives of the managerial, political, and legal approaches to Public Administration.
  • Identify and evaluate how politics is central to public administration; and identify and explain the roles that public administrators play.
  • Distinguish public management from private management and identify the key functions of two government agencies
