Description

Prepares teacher candidates to implement proactive, research-based strategies for managing classroom behavior and supporting students' social-emotional needs.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the principles of positive behavior support and identify the key components of a proactive, preventative approach to behavior management.
  • Develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on functional behavior assessments (FBAs) that promote replacement behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Identify strategies that foster positive teacher-student relationships, reinforce appropriate behavior, and support students' social-emotional well-being.
