ITEC 2420 - Big Data Analytics

Description

This course introduces core statistical skills and data analytics techniques used to manipulate and analyze big datasets and interpret outcome from data analysis for efficient decision-making, business intelligence, and scientific discovery.


Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Understand what data analytics are and why organizations are actively adopting them for strategic advantage
  2. Understand key IT/IS concepts related to big data analytics.
  3. Understand best practices with core and necessary statistics concepts to be able to participate in and lead data analytics-based projects
  4. Understand how to work with large data sets and apply the appropriate data mining techniques to answer business related questions
  5. Analyze and evaluate output from statistical and data analysis procedures and draw correct conclusions from it
  6. Communicate the results of the data analysis to management by writing a detailed report
