POLS 4219 - Public Human Resources Management

Description

This course will examine the processes, policies, procedures and laws concerning public personnel. It will also cover the issues of employee protection, motivation, efficiency and responsibility.


Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Understand the unique responsibility and position of the public personnel department in regard to law, service and labor relations;
  2. Understand the workings of the public personnel department including employee motivation, testing, evaluation, termination, recruitment, and placement;
  3. Research, write and communicate aspects of public human resource management.
