An overview of advanced conceptual and methodological practices in designing and planning supply chain systems. Advances and strategies in supply chain procurement, transportation, distribution and warehousing, globalization, outsourcing, and technology as well as customer relationship management, are studied. Topics vary.

Learning Objectives

  • Appraise general managerial thinking processes about system constraints and core logistics and supply chain management problems.
  • Synthesize organizational change and Theory of Constraints concepts to create an appropriate framework for risk mitigation.
  • Evaluate the Five Focusing Steps used to maximize the performance of value-chains.
  • Formulate the steps necessary to break constraints in supply chain systems.
  • Identify how traditional paradigms conflict with the Theory of Constraints’ focusing steps.
