Bachelor of Science in Education — Special Education Collaborative

The Bachelor of Science in Education — Special Education (BSED-SPED) Collaborative prepares students to enter the field of Special Education and address Georgia’s growing need for highly qualified teachers. Through a shared online curriculum offered by the University System of Georgia, students complete coursework focused on evidence-based practices, inclusive instruction, and individualized supports for students with disabilities.

The program leads to certification in Interrelated Special Education (P—12) and prepares graduates to serve students typically educated in interrelated classroom settings. Candidates develop the skills needed to design and implement IEPs, collaborate with general education teachers, and support students with high-incidence disabilities.

Students in a classroom raise their hands while a teacher points from the front of the room.
Students enroll through a participating institution, receive local advising and field placement support, and benefit from shared statewide expertise. This collaborative model expands access while strengthening Georgia’s special education teacher pipeline.
