A course which focuses on contemporary topics in supply chain operations management such as supply continuity and supply risk, lean manufacturing, advanced project management, environmentally friendly manufacturing, total quality management, supply chain metrics, electronic markets, relationship management, interfaces with research and development, innovation, and markets. Topics vary.

Learning Objectives

  • Define the concept of integrated management and analyze the history and evolution of logistics and the role of logistics in the domestic and global economy
  • Explain and demonstrate how budgeting, cost analysis, and other financial techniques can be used to maintain financial control of the supply chain
  • Describe the role of the web and other techniques in managing the logistical needs for a supply chain
  • Determine what productivity issues exist in a supply chain and how continuous improvement can mitigate these issues
  • Identify the social and environmental aspects of sustainable procurement
  • Identify contemporary approaches to inventory management
