Description

This course is an introduction to supply chain management. The course examines the role of manufacturing, operations, purchasing, sourcing, transportation, and distribution while determining organizational competitiveness in the areas examined. The course also explores how issues of quality, flexibility, cost, and lead time impact the supply chain.

  • Examine supply chain management terminology, components, and techniques.
  • Evaluate the historical development of supply chain management.
  • Relate supply chain management to other business sub-disciplines.
  • Examine a brief overview of the performance drivers to supply chain: facilities, inventory, transportation, and information
  • Examine several different concepts of supply chain management that relate to optimizing customer service and satisfaction.
  • Develop optimal customer service strategies by utilizing a customer service action matrix.
